ST LAURENCE O'TOOLE debuted the new Chesney MK3 Chanter at the British Championships and came out as Champions.


Chesney Reeds were also played by 5 of the top 6 Grade 1 bands including :


Inveraray and District, Boghall and Bathgate, Field Marshal Montgomery and Fife Police.


Other notable Grade 1 bands playing Chesney Reeds at the British Championships were Johnstone, Shotts and Dykehead, Lomond and Clyde and Glasgow Police.


Grade 2 was won by Closkelt playing Chesney MK1 Blackwood Chanters and Reeds,


Grade 3A was won by St Mary's Derrytrasna playing Chesney MK1 Chanters and Reeds.


Grade 3B Turriff and District won playing Chesney Copper Reeds


Juvenile was won by Dollar Academy playing Chesney Copper Reeds

Chesney Pipe Reeds are the Worlds No.1 choice for Grade 1 and Grade 2 Pipe Bands. The 2018 Pipes|Drums survey demonstrated that more Grade 1 and Grade 2 bands play Chesney Pipe Reeds than any other.


We are delighted to have so many bands trusting our products and are extremely proud that as well as Grade 1 & 2, Chesney Pipe reeds are the most successful reeds at the Juvenile level also having been played by the Juvenile World Champions in each of the last five years.


Added to that, the Grade 4A & Grade 4B World Champions in 2018 played Chesney Chanters & Reeds. Throughout the Grades our products are proven to help bands produce the best sounds and results.

When the survey was broken down to Grade 1 bands specifically Chesney Reeds were played by 61% of the Worlds top pipe bands.




More bands have made the switch to Chesney Chanters and Reeds in 2018.


The Johnstone Organisation changed both their Grade 1 and Grade 3B bands over to Chesney Copper Pipe Reeds this year. The Grade 1 band enjoyed a very good second season in Grade 1 and topped it off by qualifying for the Grade 1 final of the World Pipe Band Championships, in only their second year in Grade 1.


The Johnstone Grade 3B band won 3 Major Championships in 2018 and lifted the 2018 Grade 3B Champions of Champions prize!

In the Juvenile Grade, West Lothian Schools Pipe Band changed to playing Chesney Copper Pipe Reeds in 2018. They join bands like mutiple world champions, Dollar Academy and George Watson's College playing Chesney Reeds in the Juvenile Grade.
