Chesney Chanters & Reeds are based in Northern Ireland. We have been in the art of Reedmaking for over 40 years. Over the last 4 decades our Chanters & Reeds have been played to win multiple World Championships from Grade 1 to Juvenile.
Managing Director David Chesney has been a Reedmaker for 42 years. Throughout his piping career he has played in two different Grade 1 World Championship winning bands that played both Chanters and Reeds manufactured by myself. (Field Marshal Montgomery and St Laurence O’Toole). David is currently Pipe Major for Northern Ireland Grade 2 band Closkelt which became NI Champion of Champions in 2017 and enjoyed relative success in the major championships of the same season.
Chesney Chanters & Reeds quality is widely spread throughout the Grades today. This is best demonstrated by the fact our reeds have been played to WIN the Juvenile World Championship and the Grade 1 World Championship in each of the last 4 seasons.
Chesney Reeds were also played by 9 of the top 10 Grade 1 bands at the 2017 World Pipe Band Championships and have now been played to WIN the Grade 1 World Championships the in each of the last 8 years in succession and to WIN the last 25 Grade 1 Majors in succession.
